We’re glad to introduce the interview with Petr Schwarz, a SOA student from the Masterclass#11.

We’re glad to introduce the interview with Petr Schwarz, a SOA student from the Masterclass#11.

Could you present yourself to our readers and tell them the position you currently hold?

I’m Petr Schwarz, I’m founder of Black Ink Design Group, and I am also a CGI Artist for an architectural firm called Pozas Arquitectos in Monterrey, Mexico.

Why have you chosen to become an Arch-Viz Artist?

When I started my architectural degree, I wasn’t that good in drawing, but I knew I had good ideas, so it was until my second year that I took a 3D class. From then on, I fell in love with this area. Where I could imagine everything and then put it all together in rendering. My best phrase is “IF YOU CAN IMAGINE IT, I CAN HELP YOU VISUALIZE IT”.

What were the biggest difficulties you faced at the beginning of your career? How did you handle and overcome them?

The biggest difficulty that I still face is that here in Mexico, there’s the “culture” of wanting everything Good, Nice, and Cheap (Bueno, Bonito y Barato). Another difficulty is getting to be known, I need to work on my marketing strategy.

Is there a work/ an image/ a project that you created which is most valuable to you? Why?

I don’t have a favorite one because I believe that the next one will be better. So I always try to keep pushing and working harder and smarter to get better results. But one of my favorite images is the one I created with Roberto’s help in the Masterclass ;). Because it was the first time, I opened my eyes to a brand new world of possibilities: Photoshop is a great tool. I also like some of my latest renders, which are for a friend of mine and are very special as well.

What do you do in your free time after work? Can you balance your working life and your private one?

Work is hard, since I work at a firm and beside it I have my own work. But I try to balance it with going to barbeques with friends, exercising (to blow out some steam), and on the weekends with my family. And also, I love watching tv, so as to distract myself once in a while.

Thanks Petr, we wish you the best with your career!
