The AcademyDay#7 was a real breath of fresh air with new and interesting contents. Now, we’re ready to share with you the interview taken by our Media Partner Ronen Bekerman during the event.

Here you’ll find the points of view of the Artists who spoke on the AD#7’s stage and who will talk about their works.

Let’s give space to the protagonists!

First, we’ll start with the interview with Pannos Ioannou, Head of Production and Gamma Basra, Head of the Visualization Team at Foster + Partners, presented by ChaosGroup. We’ll get to know how the team expanded from a goup of 7 to 25 people in 5 disciplines, working from still images to moving ones. Now the team is working on over 100 projects (without including competitions), so we will find out how important is for them to go external and give to other companies parts of their working process. Lastly, we’ll see how the team works and which are the main features that a candidate should have to enter the team.

The second interview is with Ondra Karlik, in charge of the development and the technical side, Adam Hotovy, responsible for business and sales and Jaroslav Krivanek, in charge of the research at Render Legion that developed the Corona Renderer software. The team will talk about the new 1.5 version of Corona for 3DSMax, which sees improvements on the Lightmix (to change the intensity and colors of lights during the rendering in an interactive way or after the rendering) and on the post-production. They will give us information on the Corona Academy starting this November to train and certify teachers who can teach courses on Corona to the final users. We’ll also get some news in terms of the plugin development for new platforms such as Cinema 4D and Sketchup. And then, what does the future reserve? Let’s find it in the video.

Here is the interview with Frederic Kohler and Nicolas Wirrmann from Allegorithmic, a company born in 2003 which at the beginning only dealt with 3D and texturing for gaming and now also includes the architectural and design industries. We’ll see how often photos aren’t enough as references to create photorealistic materials and this is where Substance plays an important role. With Substance you can previsualize the material before importing it in some modelling software such as 3DSMax. PBR is something more than just shaders. We suggest you to watch the video to go into deep in the software.
